Two Ways to Practise
Falling Letters gives you one Tamil letter at a time. Type it before it reaches the line. Start with uyir, the independent vowels, then mei, consonants with pulli. The following levels take each consonant through its uyirmei row, with Grantha last. Five correct answers advance you to the next level. You can also choose a starting level before the round.
Word Sprint gives you short words drawn from our practice lessons and passages. Clear as many as you can in 60 seconds. Both games award 10 points for a correct target. A wrong answer costs one life; in Falling Letters, a letter reaching the line also costs one life. The round ends after three misses. A blank answer does not count as an attempt.
Use Calm Mode to remove the timer and falling motion from either game. Work through the keys at your own pace. Pause stops the clock and keeps the current target. Press Escape while typing to pause, or use the Pause button. Switching to another tab pauses an active round automatically.
Learn the Keys Behind the Letters
Choose the layout you want to practise before starting. In Phonetic, type English letters that the engine can read as the target. In the other layouts, the answer box uses the same keyboard rules as our keyboard tools. The hint after a miss shows the actual sequence for the missed target. An arrow separates successive keys; Shift+ means hold Shift for that key.
For example, a Phonetic target might be ka→க. Submit with Enter or Space after the whole target, including a single letter. This lets you finish a longer sequence before it is checked. Use Backspace to correct your input before submitting. On a phone, the four physical layouts provide a tappable keyboard, including a Shift key.
Only targets with a verified input sequence in the selected layout appear. Some letters are therefore absent from a particular layout or Phonetic level. This is especially relevant to Grantha. Switching layouts can change the target pool. Game hints come from the same engine as typing, so use the hint shown for your chosen layout.
Take the Next Step
Replay a starting level in calm mode when a key sequence is unfamiliar. After a miss, read the hint and try the sequence in the next round. Your best score is kept separately by game, layout, starting level and timing mode, so changing a setting gives you a separate best to work toward.

Questions About the Games
How do I play the Tamil typing games?
Choose Falling Letters or Word Sprint, select your layout and press Start Game. Type the Tamil target in the answer box and press Enter, Space or Check. Each correct target earns 10 points. You have three lives. Start in Calm Mode if you need time to recognise each target before typing.
What should I type in Phonetic mode?
Type a Tanglish spelling using English letters, then press Enter or Space. The game accepts spellings that its phonetic engine can match to the target. After a miss, it shows a checked spelling for that target. Capital letters can change the result.
Can I play without a timer?
Yes. Select Calm Mode before starting either game. The target stays still and there is no time limit. Your score changes only when you submit an answer. Calm Mode is selected automatically when your device requests reduced motion. Select the setting before you start a new run.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes. Use your phone keyboard for Phonetic. For Tamil99, Bamini, Typewriter or InScript, tap the keyboard below the answer box. Switch between Left hand and Right hand to reach the keys. Tap Shift before a shifted key, then Check to submit.
Where is my high score saved?
Your best score is saved in this browser, separately for each game, layout, starting level and calm or timed mode. It is not synced between devices. Clearing site data removes it. If browser storage is unavailable, you can still play.
Are these games a typing speed test?
No. Game points count correct targets, not words per minute. Use the Tamil typing test for a passage-based speed result. The games give you short targets and key hints to practise recognition and recall. A game high score cannot be converted into an examination mark or a passage WPM result.
Why do I lose a life in Falling Letters?
A wrong submitted answer or a target reaching the bottom counts as a miss. The game then shows the missed target and a checked key hint before continuing, if lives remain. Read that feedback before the next attempt. Choose Calm Mode before starting if you want mistakes to matter without a falling deadline.
How is Word Sprint different from Falling Letters?
Word Sprint gives you a shared sixty-second clock for a run, while Falling Letters gives each target time to fall. Both award points for correct submissions and use three lives. Try Word Sprint for recalling whole targets quickly, or Falling Letters for a visible per-target deadline. Calm Mode removes those timing pressures in either game.
Can I pause a Tamil typing game when I need a break?
Yes. Press Pause during a run, then Resume when ready. The target waits, the answer controls are disabled, and the game clock stops advancing while paused. Use this for an interruption instead of restarting, which begins a new run with a fresh score and three lives.
Why can I not change the game layout after starting?
The game locks the layout, starting level and Calm Mode setting during a run so its targets and saved high-score category stay consistent. Finish the run before choosing different settings. The score belongs to that particular game and setup, so compare it with runs using the same options rather than a different keyboard or timing mode.
