A dated log of what we built and changed, newest first. Fixes to individual words are listed here too once they ship.
Cookieless Analytics
We now count page views with self-hosted Plausible and with Google Analytics in consent mode with all storage turned off. Neither sets cookies or receives what you type; only page paths are sent, and Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track turns both off. Details are on the privacy page.
Smarter Suggestions
The typing engine now ranks suggestions with a 200,000-word Tamil word list and spelling statistics learned from real romanizations. On a held-out test set the first suggestion is right about 76% of the time, up from 37%. The word list loads in the background and never slows typing. The accuracy page explains the test and the known weak spots.
Common names (பிரியா, கார்த்திக், சரவணன்) and everyday English loanwords (ஆபீஸ், பஸ், லீவு) now convert the way people write them.
Editor: tap any Tamil word to change its spelling, a shortcuts list, focus mode, and save as .doc or as an image.
Bamini to Unicode and the other converters now open Word .docx files and keep the formatting.
Tanglish converters: a Check mode that walks through unsure words, a line-by-line view, and links and email addresses left as typed.
Translation on phones answers from a checked phrasebook instead of sending you elsewhere. Voice typing understands spoken punctuation in Tamil and English.
Keyboards: press and hold a letter for all its forms, a Find a key box, and physical-keyboard layouts on the Tamil keyboard page.
Typing test: a TNDTE-style 10-minute exam mode, long passages, progress history and drills for the letters you miss most.
Site: a tool finder (Ctrl+K), a simpler menu on phones, and accessibility fixes found by automated checks.
Rechecked the iPhone, Android and Google Input Tools guides against the official help pages. Corrected the iPhone steps for removing and switching keyboards (Apple’s current guide uses swipe to delete and touch and hold to switch) and the Samsung Keyboard settings path. Each guide now lists its sources with the date checked.
Privacy and Offline Use
The privacy page now lists every setting the tools save in your browser, including typing practice progress. Nothing about what is collected changed: still no cookies, analytics or uploads.
Offline copies: the site now saves the pages you visit for offline use, and saves every tool only when you install the app or ask it to. Before, it downloaded every page on the first visit, which used mobile data.
Tamil typing editor: type in English letters and get Tamil script, with word suggestions, undo with Backspace, a saved draft, copy, download and share.
English to Tamil typing: the same editor with a live letter chart beside it, for learning what to type.
Tamil voice typing: speak Tamil and edit the text as it appears, in browsers with speech recognition.
